Designed to meet the needs of Japan's top competitors, the bimetal Singularity is the new signature model of Izuru Hasumi.
Izuru's new signature model is a bimetal masterpiece that marries reliable stability with his energetic style. The design was handled by SUS YOYO MECHANICS, the Japanese designer who is also responsible for the impressive Rockstar model. Based on the Supernova, Singularity is a bimetal variation built to meet Izuru's needs on the stage.
Comment from SUS YOYO MECHANICS
Hasumi-san had a couple of requests when we got started on this project: he wanted it to excel at horizontal tricks, and he wanted a good balance of easy power at first throw with a light and nimble playfeel.
Starting here, we analyzed videos of his contest freestyles to break down his exact needs and build a yo-yo to match with his particular playstyle. We tweaked everything to meet this goal, and the Singularity is simply packed with potential!
The result? Super stable horizontal spins and endless long sleepers thanks to the stainless steel rim, minimal sleep loss thanks to the improved bumped response area. Our analysis of his combos revealed an opportunity to smooth out the transitions between tension and slack-style tricks, which we accomplished by tweaking the curvature of the bump on the edge. This gives a really nice release when thrown, and gives a lot of control over the string while maintaining top speed.
About Izuru Hasumi (Team YoYoFactory)
In 2010, Izuru first got into yo-yo at age 11 through the revived Hyper Yo-Yo boom in Japan. His insatiable love for yo-yo blasted him onto the contest stage very quickly, and he became a fixture at competitions and started carving a name for himself. Despite his age and his newness to the sport, he quickly garnered attention from players young and old all around. His freestyles are very well-coordinated to his music, and this synchronization and strong performer spirit was his secret weapon, and he started winning consecutive regional contests in 2016~2018. In 2018, he even took 5th place for 1A at the Japan National Yo-Yo Contest, one of the most competitive in the world. Nowadays, he is working as our staff at Yo-Yo Store REWIND's Shibuya store, and spreading his passion and knowledge by teaching yo-yo workshops in Tokyo.
Official Description
Singularity is built for optimum power and stability because of its higher mass distribution on the stainless-steel rim weights. At the same time, it maintains a great controllability, so it works perfectly for horizontal style and the speed combos that Izuru is famous for. The first release comes in three different blue-oriented colorways since blue is Izuru’s favorite color.
Please wish Izuru good luck in his future contest participation and give Singularity a try!
