Competitive yo-yo: Here, this refers to all yo-yos other than those sold as toys by Bandai and other toy manufacturers.

Most of the yo-yos we sell are "competition yo-yos."

*Not all competitive yo-yos are as described below. However, we hope you will understand and be aware of the following precautions before purchasing.

About inspection

Each product has passed the manufacturer's inspection, and the standards for passing the product vary depending on the manufacturer. We do not inspect all products that arrive at our store.

Competitive yo-yos are not "toys"

  • Yo-yos are not just products sold as toys. Most yo-yos are produced and sold on the assumption that the buyer has a certain level of knowledge and skill (about maintenance, binding, etc.).
  • Some competitive yo-yos require delicate handling.
  • The screws around the yo-yo may become worn down and become unusable if they are repeatedly opened and closed or tightened with excessive force. In particular, if a full metal yo-yo is assembled at even the slightest angle, the screws may become damaged and it may become impossible to continue tightening or assemble. In such cases, we will not accept exchanges or repairs, regardless of the price of the yo-yo.
  • Although it has a certain degree of strength for competition use, it will break if you push it too hard. In particular, be careful not to hit it against a hard surface such as concrete or apply strong pressure to it.
  • In most cases, instructions are not included. Even if they are included, they are often written in English. If you have any questions about yo-yos, please refer to each product page or REWIND INFO BASE , or contact us using the inquiry form , including the model name.

Many competitive yo-yos are imported.

  • Packages may be damaged during international shipping and customs clearance. We exclude packages with severe damage, but please be aware that some package damage may occur.
  • Some products may not come with packaging. After inspecting these products, we will wrap them in packaging material and ship them out.
  • Yo-yos are made in many different countries, and there are many different values and standards. Some manufacturers make their products with precision, while others are more relaxed. Some manufacturers don't care about scratches, fading, uneven coloring, rust, etc.
  • Sometimes the item may already be damaged from the start. Regarding items that are obviously suspected to be damaged, we will inspect them if possible, but items that cannot be opened (cannot be put back in place) cannot be inspected and may go to the customer as is.

Most competitive yo-yos are made by hand in small batches.

  • Specifications may vary depending on the type, color, lot, and batch. Weight, in particular, often varies to some extent.
  • Plastic yo-yos may have air bubbles that occur during molding, or color variations.
  • There may be small scratches, scuff marks, burrs, or molding marks on the surface, but these will not affect use (you will not be injured if you touch it with your hand while it is rotating).
  • Regardless of the price, some yo-yos will have some wobble while spinning, while others won't. This is because some manufacturers place importance on wobble, while others don't. It also depends on the individual yo-yo.
  • Some models have ball bearings that are easy to remove, while others are difficult to remove. Most are basically designed so that they cannot be removed by hand, so in those cases, please refer to this page on how to remove the bearings for instructions on how to remove them.
  • Different yo-yos come with different types of strings (100% polyester, 50% cotton, colored, etc.), and some yo-yos don't come with strings at all.
  • The product itself, packaging, and accessories may have misaligned or faded prints. Specifications of both yo-yos and parts may be subject to change without notice.
  • Product logos, package prints, specifications, etc. may change without notice. Products that are identical according to manufacturer standards will be treated as the same product.
  • Some products have different color atmospheres, such as splash colors and fade colors. Please view the product photos as a reference only.
  • The number of strings sold per bundle is about 100. There may be a few more or less. Also, 10 bundles of about 100 strings are bundled together to make a bundle of about 1000 strings, so the actual number of strings may vary greatly.
  • There are individual differences in both the yo-yo itself and its parts. Even with the same product, color, and production period, there may be slight differences. Anything that does not significantly affect use is within the specifications.

Yo-yos and all their parts are consumables.

  • Ultimately, the string , pads , bearings , and even the yo-yo will wear out (due to wear and metal fatigue).
  • After a long period of use, the camera may begin to shake. Also, if the camera is hit against the ground, the body may become distorted and the camera may begin to shake.
  • The lifespan of bearings varies greatly depending on the usage and storage environment. It is not uncommon for bearings to break easily. Some bearings are rusty from the beginning due to aging. For more information, please see the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) .

Even though "binding is required," it doesn't mean you can't pull it back.

Yo-yos that require binding require a certain level of knowledge and skill in competitive yo-yoing. Please check the detailed specifications to see if a yo-yo requires binding.

1. A bind is required, but this does not mean that it is a yo-yo that will not return no matter how hard you pull it.

It simply refers to yo-yos that are difficult to use normally unless you can perform a trick called a bind. Therefore, some yo-yos will come back to your hand if you throw them hard and pull them hard, but some will not come back at all. This may be due to the original design of the yo-yo, or it may be due to individual differences. In either case, the yo-yo is shipped after passing the manufacturer's inspection. If the product is obviously defective, such as if it makes a strange scraping noise while spinning or the bearings are not spinning at all, please contact us using the inquiry form .

2. Use oil to protect the bearings.

Most binding-required yo-yos do not have bearings with oil. This is very irregular when using bearings in general, and even a small amount of dirt or dust can cause them to stop spinning or become damaged. For details, please see the bottom of the bearing degreasing page . Depending on the usage conditions, they may last for years or be damaged in a day. In order to prevent such damage, we sell oil to protect bearings for binding-required yo-yos, so please use this in advance. Click here for instructions on how to inject oil.

3. Degrease and clean the bearings.

Yo-yos that have a large amount of oil in them at the beginning, or that have had too much oil poured into them, or that have large debris in them, may return to their original position when pulled. As a general rule, our shop does not offer free replacements for damaged or broken bearings, except for those that are defective at the time of purchase, so we ask that you take care of the problem yourself by reading this page on degreasing and cleaning .
